HOW IS GYNECOMASTIA SURGERY PERFORMED?
Dr. Shaw uses ultrasonic liposuction, direct surgical excision of excess breast tissue or a combination of both depending on the severity of the gynecomastia. A small incision is placed along the bottom edge of the areola followed by careful excision of the dense breast tissue. The surgery is usually done under general anesthesia in an outpatient facility. Usually, all sutures are placed beneath the skin surface and do not require removal.
