Let’s face it – This may be the last few days we have to enjoy cooler temperatures before those triple digits become a mainstay until October. In preparation for a long, hot summer, we invite you to check out our top tips for heat-proofing your summer beauty routine.
Prime your skin
Start your summer beauty routine with an oil-free primer and set your look with a powder. This will keep your make-up from wearing out long before you do!
Keep it light
Forget heavy matte or liquid foundation during the hot summer months. The heavier the make-up, the more likely it is to melt off when put to the test. And our summer temperatures are the toughest test! Try a light tinted SPF moisturizer or BB cream with SPF built in.
Pack oil blotters
Tuck a to-go pack of oil blotters in your bag so you can stop oil build up (which results in shiny skin) in its tracks when you’re out and about.
Step away from the hot tools
Give your hair a break from the heat-driven tools like the blow dryer and flat iron. Instead, give a natural wavy look a try. After washing your hair, run some argan oil through damp strands and then twist your hair into a bun (or trendy topknot). Once your hair dries, unfurl the bun, run your fingers through your hair and rock some natural waves fit for summer!
For mermaid waves, ditch the bun and put your hair in several mini braids (which are super-popular and will also keep your hair out of your face and off your neck). Once dried, gently undo the braids for sexy mermaid waves.

Stay soft… and cool
To help you cool down after the shower, keep your body lotion in the refrigerator. This exhilarating little treat is a sure way to beat the heat!

Make a statement this spring with your makeup and hairstyle. Go through your vanity and clear out the expired products and start fresh with a fun new color palette.

Bold rosy red lips
Forget natural and nude! Perk up your pucker with a burgundy, rosy pink, coral-orange or any bright shade that complements your skin tone. Remember to keep the rest of your makeup fairly subtle for a daytime look. But feel free to accentuate those bold lips with dramatic eyeliner come nighttime.
Eyeliner for night and day (and try white!)
As for that eyeliner, all types of eyeliner styles are in this season. Go for a smoldering smudged look or a winged line for a defined “cat-eye.” If you dare, try the white eyeliner trend, which can actually make the eyes look brighter and bigger.
Thick, lush lashes
Bat some long, thick lashes this spring by using a lengthening and thickening mascara or growing your own thicker, longer lashes with one of our lash-enhancing procedures.
Au natural eyebrows
Put down those tweezers! A fuller, more natural looking eyebrow is in for spring so fight the urge to over-manicure those bushy brows this season. If you have thin brows, fill them in with a matching pencil to create a fuller look.
Bold color
Blue and green hues aren’t just for the Leprechaun and Easter eggs. Using a thick bold colored pencil, draw a bold streak across your upper eye or, for a subtler look, along your upper lash line.
Rainbow clip-ins or hair color
You don’t want to look like Rainbow Bright (or your teenage daughter), but peek-a-poo color in your hair is still super-hot this spring. Think pink for blondes and blues and purples for brunettes. If you don’t want to commit to bold color, try hair chalk on for size!
Fresh-faced glow
Ditch heavy foundation in favor of light BB cream, which offers coverage while letting your natural glow shine through.
Deep side parts
Bye, bye center part. Say hello to the deep side part, which models have been rocking on the spring runways.
