As we get older, our forehead and eyebrows tend to lower often giving us a tired or mean look. To combat this, plastic surgeons perform brow lifts to tighten and improve their patients’ appearance. Both men and women attain a more youthful, bright and rested look with this form of facial surgery.

Looking Rested and Younger

A brow lift may be performed either "open" via a coronal (scalp) or hairline incision or "closed" with the aid of multiple small incisions and an endoscope. After the forehead and brows are lifted, excess skin is removed and or secured in place. No bandages are normally applied, and the patient often returns home the day of the surgery if no other procedures are performed at the same time.

The Surgery

This surgery is performed at  an outpatient surgical center and is done under general anesthesia by a Board Certified anesthesiologist. The procedure takes 1 1/2 hours, and the first 5 days of recovery requires reduced activity. Post operative discomfort is controlled with  medications during the first few days.  Bruising and swelling subsides in 7 to 10 days and the patient can then return to work and social situations.
